“Djunta mo” is a project that dates back to the year 2006, when PAI music knows and listens for the first time to the Batuko Tabanka thanks to the interest of the producer Abada initiate a recording project with this group of women Cape Verdean settled since the beginning of the 1970s in the village fishermen Burela in the Galician coast of Lugo.

“Djunta mo” is a project that dates back to the year 2006, when PAI music knows and listens for the first time to the Batuko Tabanka thanks to the interest of the producer Abada initiate a recording project with this group of women Cape Verdean settled since the beginning of the 1970s in the village fishermen Burela in the Galician coast of Lugo.

So it was as we embarked on this journey together, and never better said, since part of the recording was carried out in Cape Verde, with more representative of the music scene in this African country musicians and singers.

The rhythm of the “batukadeiras”, has a past linked to the traditional music that made slaves in Cape Verde. Before beating in the chest, and now beating in an out of leather placed between the legs which is called ‘batuko’.

The integration of these rhythms African with the music Galician is fuse of a way natural, since surprisingly discovered that their rhythms ternary were very similar to them of the jacks Galician, and them songs remembered to which sing them came Galician in it regarding to exists a “Punch” to which is you sum the rest of companions repeating the same phrase. With all these musical ingredients, PAI music presents “Djunta mo”, an expression “crioula” means “lend a hand”, “help each other”. This is the expression that defines the spirit of this work that exudes excitement and homesickness on all four sides; a true “djunta mo” of integration, fusion, dialogue, diversity and respect between two cultures. An album that had the collaboration of musicians and artists from Extremadura, Galicia, cabovedianos, Portuguese and Brazilians.

A CD with 12 songs and a DVD collecting: a concert in Cape Verde, video clips and a report of how all this work was done. All collected in a book illustrated with them photographs of out green of Xulio Villarino, companion also in this travel, and the lyrics of the songs in “crioulo” translated to the Portuguese, Galician and Castilian. An essential album for swell any collection of “world music” self-respecting.
